Victory Tour of the Rust Belt
2016 • 7” H x 12” Diameter • Rust, hardware from the salvage yard, milk can lid, epoxy, ink and prismacolor pencil on Bristol board
Philip constructed this after a 2015 trip through Illinois and Michigan. Note the trademark “Mini-Philip” at center (complete with tongue-in-cheek jingoism).
“I asked the jovial proprietor of the salvage yard for something small and heavy to use as a counter-weight. He re-appeared from the maze of junk with a tub of wonderfully-patinaed hardware. I had to make this piece with a small sampling of the material before burying the rest in plaster for the Graphic Tree base.”
–Philip Carey (2016)
